Accessibility of the Arnhem Nijmegen region
Less than 20 kilometres apart and each with a central bus and
railway station, the towns of Arnhem and Nijmegen make a combined
visit an easy option. Arnhem is also a high-speed rail (ICE) link
from Germany or the major towns in the west of the
country.
Arnhem and Nijmegen are also easy to reach by car. From the west
of the Netherlands you can take the A12 (Amsterdam/The
Hague-Utrecht), from the north of the country the A50 leads through
the area. From the south you can reach the region via the A2-A73
(Hasselt/Maastricht - Roermond), E34-A50 (Antwerpen/Eindhoven) and
the A57 (Köln/Düsseldorf/Krefeld).
Weeze Airport is a 45-minute drive from Nijmegen, Amsterdam
Schiphol and Düsseldorf Airport are a 1.5 hour-drive from the
region. You can even visit the area by boat as the rivers Rhine and
Waal wind through the heart of this region.
